What is SKW?

SKW, which stands for “Stone Knight Writers,” is a valuable resource that supports writers in pitching their narratives to production studios and independent productions. SKW’s main objective is to aid writers in bringing their stories to various platforms such as social media, movie theaters, or any other device. Moreover, SKW assists in effectively marketing and selling writers’ stories within the film industry.

The winner must claim the prize within fifteen (15) days of receiving the notification. SKW (Stone Knight Writers) will verify the winner’s identification and then send the prize via overnight mail within a maximum of seven (7) days. Any prizes that are left unclaimed will be returned to Stone Knight Writers’ funds.

We strongly suggest that you secure copyright protection for your screenplay by registering it with the US Copyright Office and affiliating it with either WGA West or WGA East. This will protect your work from plagiarism by unfamiliar writers.

While copyrighting your material is not mandatory, we recommend you consider it. A conventional approach is to send an authentic copy of the material to yourself through the postal service.

Stone Knight Writers accepts submissions from both US and non-US citizens. However, all materials must be written in English.

Certainly! It is indeed feasible to present both a synopsis and a video. The synopsis should be brief, limited to one page, and encompass all the screenplays you submit. In the synopsis, only provide your name and the screenplay title. If you possess a two-minute video that serves as a pitch, kindly include it.

Writers have two choices when selling or retaining ownership of a story. They can either sell their story exclusively to a production company or an independent business or choose not to sell it. Stone Knight allows writers to decide by offering two options: a cash prize or a cash prize award.

Let’s discuss the difference between these two options:

Cash Prize: Under this option, the writer will only receive the cash prize without selling their story to any production company or independent business. However, the SKP website will still acknowledge and recognize their work as the winner of the contest.

Cash Prize Award: The writer receives a cash prize and an award certificate or trophy with this option. Additionally, their story is handed over to one of Stone Knight’s producers or directors for further consideration. However, the SKP website will still acknowledge and recognize their work as the winner of the contest.

Writers are encouraged to carefully consider these options and choose what best aligns with their personal goals and aspirations as storytellers. This thoughtful approach will lead to a decision that feels right for them.

Yes, SKW offers free manuscript storage for members for up to a year. After that, members can keep their manuscripts stored with SKW or remove them. These storage benefits are exclusively available to SKW members at no cost.
